Hi! Welcome to my blog!

I'm Silke, 30 years old and live together with my boyfriend Maurice and dog Chewy in the Netherlands. I started a blog because I want to share recipes, information about health and sustainability. Since the beginning of 2017 I started eating plantbased and gluten free.

In december 2016 besloot ik vegetarisch te worden. Echter na een paar maanden verdiepte ik me steeds meer in veganisme en besloot ik helemaal geen dierlijke producten meer te eten. Dit voelde voor mij heel natuurlijk.

My decision to eat gluten free in addition to my vegan diet came from the diagnosis Chronic Lyme I got in 2017. I had been sick for years and could'nt even finish my study.

All I did was lay in bed or on the couch, I was dizzy after a short visit to the supermarket.

I was always in pain, always tired and dizzy. Many different doctors couldn't tell me what I could do, Chronic Lyme was something I had to learn to live with according to them. It was at my lowest point when I found Medical Medium. I bought his book and I felt hopeful again. Here was Anthony William, who understood how I felt and had actual solutions. I finished his book in no time and started following his protocol. No gluten, rapeseed oil/canola oil, dairy products, coffee, eggs, pork, GMO, corn, soy, citric acid, artificial flavors or sweeteners. Medical Medium focusses mostly on raw fruits and vegetables. He is most famous for celery juice and that was what I drank every morning. I was very dedicated to the Medical Medium protocol, my whole morning consisted of preparing lemon water, celery juice, Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie and I took many supplements. I ate mostly fruits and veggies for the rest of the day. I started feeling better and lost ten kgs in six months time. My energy was back and I found a job at a health food store, where I could follow my passion for health. I felt like I was no longer weak and useless, I was building back my life. At the end of 2019 I started a study for my current job in the maritime sector and after a year of studying and practicing in simulation training I got my diploma. This was a big victory for me, after years of being ill. I now work fulltime in shifts, which I wouldn't have believed a couple of years ago. I still have days when I'm not feeling well, but generally I feel good. I no longer follow Medical Medium completely, but still value his information. I noticed that food became an obsession as I was very strict about what I could and could'nt eat. This worked the opposite way, since stress has a lot of impact on your health. This is why I give myself more freedom now and no longer call myself a vegan. I mainly focus on organic, local and whole foods.
